What Is the MLS?

An MLS or Multiple Listing Service is the database that REALTORS® use to share information about available properties as well as historic information used for appraisals and other purposes.  Each REALTOR® inputs the details of every property they represent and it's then shared with every other REALTOR® who belongs to that MLS system. More importantly for the public, it's the data feed that comes from this MLS that populates most of the real estate websites out there today including brokerage sites, individual agent sites and national sites like REALTOR.com®, Trulia.com, Homes, com, etc...

Because REALTORS® are at the heart of every transaction, they're able to provide the most up to date and accurate information available.  Thanks to the internet, the public now has immediate access to that valuable information through an IDX feed of the data that's sent out to authorized sites.
